Long-distance move from New Jersey to Florida

ZiptoZip Moving.

The actual price was significantly 36% higher than the estimate. And we had no furniture only boxes to move which should make it relatively simple to estimate. These people are transporters and not movers. Once they showed up at the final destination with their 53' tractor trailer we found countless crushed boxes delivered with damaged household items even broken cast iron cookware. Numerous missing items including whole boxes of goods, tools and even a 12' truck rack. These apparently never made it out of the storage operation. Third party claims were also not responsive to calls. In the end the $3000 claim resulted in a $62 offer based upon their 60cents per 100 lb. insurance coverage This allows them to take anything and be responsible for pennies of replacement cost. Pretty sweet setup. Check them out with the FMCSA ( Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration). However my suggestion is RUN away from this company.

Long-distance move from New York to New Jersey

Zip to Zip Moving Company.

This was the worse move ever.  Be afraid, be very afraid.
I would not recommend them due to the fact that they used bate-and-switch tactics.  Estimated one price and them doubled it.
Additionally, as a senior I had to sleep on the floor for a week and then they delivered someone else's box spring and no mattress.  Additionally, key valuable items are mysteriously missing.
Movers arrived with a 'checklist' of charges that was not with the original contract and they were not response to phone calls.  They did not keep their word and no wonder they only except cash or money order on delivery.  They hold your belongings hostage and refuse to deliver your items without prior signature and left no copy of delivery and make no effort to return phone calls and only want to be paid first without rendering a service.

Long-distance move from Delaware to Kentucky

Move to Kentucky was great!

I must admit that I am so thrilled that it was Zip to Zip Moving Services that facilitated that relocation and not any other company. I would have possibly landed on one of those cash orientated movers who would do anything for money. Instead, they turned out to be the executive relocation crew who were out to offer exclusive relocation services and nothing more. They showed up ready to work and didn't even stop but once for lunch, we have 3 bedroom home and they packed everything up within a reasonable time. With all their heart, they relocated me to Kentucky. It was a flawless and resounding move. .

Long-distance move from New York to Montana

Please watch out.

I hired Zip to Zip for a cross-country move. Here are facts and photos of the experience:

1. While my items were in the custody of Zip to Zip movers, one of my lock boxes was broken into and over $5000 worth of valuables were stolen. There is "no way to prove this" to their claims department so I have "no legal recourse".

2. They cost over $1000 than most all of the competition.

3. While they will say your move will only take a few days to be delivered, they fail to mention it will take an undetermined amount of weeks for them to find a truck.

4. Everything was late by several weeks.

5. I was lied to about when my items were placed on a truck. The movers told me directly they only had been trucking my stuff for 2 days when Zip to Zip said it left 10 days before.

6. Things arrived broken. When I mentioned this to the movers delivering my items, they told me "that's what insurance is for."

7. Zip to Zip will never call you after they have your initial deposit. They will say they will call you back to inform on delivery dates, moving complications, or customer service issues but they will never call back. If you speak to people named Taylor, Tim, Joseph, or Kate you can rest assured you will never hear from them again.

8. The movers actually do not know how to assemble or disassmble furniture. They tried to re-build my couch but forgot the legs and tacking strips and actually installed the back of the couch upside down, drilling new holes in the wood frame (damaging it) in the process.

9. When the truck did show up it was jammed full of stuff and it was all mixed up. All of the boxes were smashed and since everything was literally thrown in the truck they had to unpack half of the trailer to find my items. Even at that they still didn't get everything and I had to tell them multiple times the items they were re-loading were actually mine.

Long-distance move from Connecticut to Pennsylvania

Worst Moving Company Ever!

A contract was made between Zip to Zip Moving Services and me on July 11th for my moving from CT to PA.  After requesting a quote from Zip to Zip Moving Services on July 11th, the sales person sent me an estimate of $1,650.50. However, the day before moving, the boss of moving crew called me to confirm the number/volume of my items and he said my items are more than what he had heard from the sales person. So he said the price would be $2,000. I suggested him to adjust it after completing packing and loading because I was still packing at that time, and he agreed. However, on my moving day (July 20th), the moving crew came to my apartment in CT to pick my items up and they showed me a different estimate document. In the document, the final price was $2,000. And the moving crew asked me to sign the document. Although the actual volume was 400 cf (which was less than minimum of 500 cf), they didn't adjust the final price and advised me to talk to the sales person. I also found that the price per cf was adjusted from $2.85 to $4.00 in the adjusted document without my consent. That being said, although the actual volume of my items was less than the minimum, there was no room for adjustment due to the adjusted price per cf. Zip to Zip should have sent me the adjusted document before the moving crew came for pickup in order to provide me enough time to review it ahead of time. After the moving crew picked my items up, I have made tens of phone calls and left voice messages to the sales person to talk about this wrong estimate & price. However, he has never answered or called me back until August 3rd.  The email address of the sales person in the estimate document was wrong. So I was not able to reach him out by email. This makes me extremely nervous because I thought that this moving company doesn't exist. So I sent messages to the moving company but they didn't respond to me at all. I also contacted the boss of the moving crew who gave me the price of $2,000. He also didn't answer my phone at all. Now, I think Zip to Zip Moving Services is intentionally avoiding my phone calls, voice mails, and message. Besides the price issue, I became concerned about moving in. While requesting a quote to the sales person in mid-July, I requested August 1st for the delivery. However, I still do not know when the delivery would be and also if the delivery would happen. As my moving date approached (i.e., August 1st), I started contacting the moving company from the end of July. However, they didn’t respond to my contact up until August 2nd. On August 3rd, the sales person finally answered my phone and I explained him my concerns. The sales person told me that his boss will contact in 1 or 2 hours, but his boss didn’t call me back. On the following date (August 4th), I called to the sales person again, and he repeated that his boss will contact me in 1 or 2 hours, and his boss didn’t call me. I talked about this situation to my boss at work, and my boss contacted the sales person. After my boss contacted the moving company on August 5th, the sales person’s boss called me and said the moving crew will contact me between 4 and 6 pm to schedule the moving. However, I still haven’t heard anything from them.  This moving company now answers my phone but they don’t resolve any problems/issues.  They didn't adjust the final price at the end.  Also they didn't deliver 2 items (i.e., a side table and 25-30 pairs of designer shoes). They have been ignoring my contacts after delivery again.

Lie about estimates.

I wish these guys were on Yelp so I could write a review that people will see. But seriously, DO NOT use this company. They give you a low estimate to suck you in. Then, like the other reviewer said, your price is almost doubled on moving day because it's "more cubic feet." When I had LESS items than I listed on my inventory! They definitely do this on purpose to screw you over, making you pay more when you're backed into a corner with no options. Plus, no one EVER picks up at the office or dispatch, it's impossible to reach anyone. And my movers were 6 hours later on top of everything else. What a nightmare. I wish there was something I could do.

Long-distance move from Maine to Florida

Zip to zip movers.

RUN ..this is the worst experience of my 62 years. They are helpful until the deposit then they will not answer calls or return emails . No one knows what is going on and I had to inform the drivers of where my stuff was supposed to go. Most people I spoke to are impossible to understand due to heavy accents and poor English. My deposits never showed up on invoice although I asked repeatedly. Joseph, who I assume was an owner? was beyond rude and would not listen to my concerns and refused to speak again to me after trying to get an explanation as to why the charges were suddenly 1200 over estimate. They tacked on a 260 fuel surcharge after assuring me fuel was included in estimate, they charged me 200 for an oversized item which was clearly described to them and put in inventory after Rich told me it would be fine size wise. They charged 100+ for extra packing which amounted to tape wrapped around 2 blankets which I was led to believe was part of the standard service. They told me after pickup that my load was way over my contract amt, I know it was not. Customer service is non existent and quite simply, no one cared a hoot and basically told me we have your stuff so pay if you want it. Lastly, we are missing 2 boxes and gained 3 that were not ours. I feel bad for the persons whose stuff I have because no one will fix it. Driver had no check list at all and told me that the warehouse where he picked up load was a cluster .. of epic proportions and that the moving industry was a very dirty business and he felt bad but was independently contracted out for delivery. The delivery guys were the ONLY pros I encountered and were super. Did I mention they gave me a definite pick up date, I booked my flights and then they cancelled pick up and rescheduled almost a week later ? Cost me 250 to change flights but they could have cared less. I have had my stuff 5 days and my blood pressure is still not recovered !! Please save your sanity and bank account and look else where for a moving company.

Long-distance move from Pennsylvania to New Hampshire

Fraud Alert!!

They start off on the phone as very friendly. Kate said the move should be no problem. She asked for a list of items I wanted to move and prepared a list from that. I asked if they would come to the apt, but she said that wouldn't be necessary. Original estimate with a shuttle truck was $1850. That is when the good stuff ended.
Edison came to the door on moving day and noted that this was much more stuff than the original estimate. I pointed out that nearly everything was on the sheet. In addition, I had already moved 2 SUV loads. He estimated $5000. He eventually went down to $4000 (I will bet his boss was proud of him). I will note they did $475 worth of packing and materials which I thought was not unfair. However based on my description, Kate estimated 510 cu. ft. and the actual claimed was over 900 cu ft. Of course they want to be paid in cash. At delivery, the company execs (Tim) would not talk to us nor did Kate return any of my phone calls. They were willing to leave with the truck full of our goods if we did not pay.
The movers themselves were nice and competent. However, I am confident Edison knew what he was doing when he walked in and immediately started explaining to me why it would cost so much more.
The dishonesty of the situation is that they know you are on time deadlines. You are either giving up a lease or closing on a house. They have you and they take full advantage. Moral of the story is cheapest is not always the least expensive. This company lies with a smile while they pick your pocket. Only thing left to do is sue. I am willing to bet that any of the favorable reviews were written by company hacks.

Long-distance move from New York to Washington

Interstate Move From NY to WA.

Please resist from using zip to zip. Our experience is as follows:
1. Started with a man called Taylor, he took inventory of our stuff and gave us estimate saying that actual cost might be +-20%. We went through the estimate several times and he assured us that there will not be any surprises.
2. The movers showed up and re estimated and told us that our actual cost is circa 300% more than Taylor sworn over the phone that it will not be more than 20%. This is where our dilemma started. We have already arranged for that day to be our last day in NY, flying out of NY the next day, sold house and new house owner ready to move in two days later. All these we shared with Taylor.
3. Called Taylor when the movers told us our actual cost was 300% more, Taylor said " I just used our tool to calculate the cost based on the inventory list you have, those movers will see the stuff and know how much cubic feet your things will take and they are pretty accurate" He didn't even care about the situation they put us into. We later called the warehouse Manager named Joe to know if he can assist in re-estimating and adjust the cost. Joe game us the rudest service you will ever receive from somebody that called himself a manager in a service company. Joe told me I was wasting his time and should not be talking to me and hung up the phone on me. Even a front line customer service agent in any company knows that hanging phone on somebody is the rudest thing to do.
3. We were compelled to accept the new cost which was ~ 300% over the budget. We thought that was the end of our problem. Well unfortunately for us, that was the beginning of our predicament.
4. After that day, we never hear from Mr. Taylor. We called him several times to find out the exact date of delivery, no response. Sent him an email, no reply. One day a lady named Kate called saying she got our mail to Taylor, that she will find out when the delivery will be made. What an excellent customer handover Taylor!!
5. When Kate finally called back, she said " I don't know the exact date, I will give you the driver's phone number and name, you contact him and find out" Really? I have to be calling one person to another to find my delivery date? You can't get internal company information and pass on to customer? The worst thing is that from Taylor, Joe another guy named Mike, they are all not qualified to be in service business and I believe that is what trickled down to build the bad culture in the company and they pass this to customers.
6. I later called the driver. On the day of delivery, we met another surprise, they added $980 to our cost, saying we have to pay for U-hual truck to transfer our stuff because they came with 18 Wheeler that won't drive up to where we live. They off loaded our stuff, 2 of the dinning seats leg were broken, couch leather - torn, 1 end table leg- broken, clocks, wall frames glasses - shattered, one travel box with our valuables - lost. When we were identifying these, the movers kept saying " hope you have insurance, just call them" I was like, what kind of folks are these? Who cares about customer experience in this organization. Oh I forgot, the last payment must be in cash or money order. No personal check, bank check or wire transfer. These are signs of company that knows that they don't satisfy customers thus always looking for non retractable form of payment.
I will advise anybody to resist from using this company unless you enjoy having frustrations and horrible experience. The company has the worst culture you will ever get from any service organization.
I kept thinking is there any government agency that have to investigate this company?

Long-distance move from New York to Florida

Moving.

The sales people were nothing to be thrilled with. They DO NOT come to your home! So, the estimate will be higher than you expect.
On a great note, the actual moving men who showed up on moving day, were awesome!! Saheed, the gentleman who did the actual manifest and estimate was perfect; he was polite and professional. Gary and Carlito who did most of the heavy lifting were also gentlemen and extremely careful with all of our furniture and belongings.
Al (3) men worked non stop for 6 hours. I highly recommend asking for them and using all of them to move you.
